Project Coordinator – National Sport Development Organisation

Job Purpose
Reporting day-to-day to the Partnership & Governance Manager, this role will encompass delivering the European Week of Sport (EWOS), assisting in the development and administration of the Organisation’s investments and specifically providing support to the Dormant Account Fund.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process grant applications for EWOS programmes & projects.
  • Administration & management of the EWOS budget in line with financial policies and procedures
  • Support EWOS media and communications plan
  • Update, maintain and promote relevant EWOS content topics in coordination with the Organisation’s Communications team.
  • Represents the Organisation at international EWOS meetings
  • Represents Sport Ireland at international EWOS
  • Researching and providing recommendations on alternative and innovative projects and programmes for EWOS
  • Develops new concepts and initiatives as part of the EWOS programme
  • Complete all necessary EWOS application forms and reports
  • Assist in the management of events in the lead up to, and during EWOS
  • Support the evaluation of the EWOS programmes
  • Manage the EWOS event registration process.
  • Development and delivery of internal and external Dormant Account Fund application process
  • Development of DAF application forms and scoring criteria
  • Coordinate the scoring of Dormant Account applications
  • Prepare the Organisation’s Board and subcommittee submissions as well as department Dormant Account reports
  • Coordinate the mid-year DAF returns process, with the support of administrator
  • Prepare and monitor DAF draw down, with administration support
  • Monitor and report on DA expenditure, internal and external, with admin support
  • Support the evaluation of Dormant Account projects
  • Transfer evaluation findings into future DA application forms and guidelines

This is not an exhaustive list and the role will include any duties required by the Organisation from time to time which are appropriate for the position and the needs of the organisation.


  • 1 years’ experience of working in an event management or development role
  • An understanding of sports and physical activity participation; theories and methodologies
  • Experience of managing a budget
  • Experience of balancing multiple priorities to meet deadlines
  • Experience of introducing, operating and optimising event registration systems
  • Experience working on promotion campaigns for events
  • A full clean driving license and access to a car

Knowledge & Experience

  • Must possess a relevant third level qualification, at level 6 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework.
  • Experience working on promotion campaigns for events
  • Must be flexible and solutions focused in all business activity
  • Must have a high level of efficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Must have the ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Must have excellent planning & organising skills and be able to prioritise tasks effectively under tight deadlines
  • Must have experience of effectively managing projects and programmes on time and with agreed parameters
  • Must be self-driven, focused and diverse, they must demonstrate the ability to simultaneously manage a range of media activities in a professional manner, ensuring great communication skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Must be capable of presenting information verbally in a clear, concise and confident manner
  • Must be capable of building and maintaining healthy, effective and mutually respectful business relationships with key stakeholders
  • Must be capable of handling conflict and resistance
  • Must be capable of handling sensitive information in a confidential manner
