Quantity Surveyor/Project Manager – Public Sector

Our client a National Sports Development Organisation are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor/Project Manager to join their team. The role will include both quantity surveying and project management duties across multiple projects. This is a contract opportunity for a duration of 2 years initially. You will be working as part of a small construction and development team in the delivery of multiple small and large construction projects.


  • Working as part of a construction development team in the delivery of multiple campus projects
  • Establish client briefs and project requirements including budget, programme and quality requirements
  • Appointing construction design consultants from existing consultancy frameworks and formulising their roles, duties, contracts etc
  • Taking responsibility for the development of cost control procedures and managing all construction and development budgets.
  • Ensure all consultant and contractor appointments comply with relevant procurement guidelines
  • Chair start-up & production meetings (including working with the Development Director to allocate suitably skilled team members)
  • Manage information flows, correspondence, schedules and identifying risks and non-compliance at an early stage
  • Preparing cost and management reports and attending Design Team Progress Meetings
  • Monitoring overall site progress against the programme and budget and taking corrective actions
  • Ensuring that design teams are complying with their specific duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure the productive management of site operations, identifying and resolving potential problems
  • Preparing internal reports and documentation as required to ensure clarity on project delivery
  • Working on the development and management of Project Execution Plans, H&S Plans and Gated Control Procedures within the organisation
  • Assist in the development and management of the organisation risk register
  • Assist and take responsibility for multiple administrative tasks around the campus
  • Lead all aspects of Project Team functions (Project Execution Plan, Risk & Commercial Success, Processes, Stakeholder Management, Project Administration, Design Management & Project Close Out)
  • Obtain the defects lists, remedy any items and obtain the Certificate of Making Good Defects


  • It is desirable that the candidate has experience working with construction design teams in a development capacity
  • A background as a QS/Architect/Engineer would be desirable
  • Has experience and understanding of the cost and design requirements of delivering capital projects
  • Has worked in a project management environment
